Appeals to the Privy Council |
List of Images of Pages of Printed Cases |
In the Ford Collection at the New York Public Library there are two volumes entitled Prize Appeals. The volumes contain 189 pamphlets, bound together, and dating from 1736 to 1758. They are said to have originally belonged to Sir William Lee (1688–1754, CJKB 1737–1754) and his brother, Sir George Lee (?1700–1758), the noted civilian. As the title suggests, most of the pamphlets are printed cases in appeals involving prizes, arranged by the name of the vessel involved and foliated. A few of them, however, contain printed cases in appeals to the Privy Council as we have defined such appeals. Through the courtesy of Reproduction Services at NYPL, we obtained images of those printed cases and include them here. NYPL asks that we mention that their Rare Book Collection is supported by the Astor, Tilden, and Lenox Foundations. Clicking on the link in the description below will bring you directly to an image of the page listed. You may download and use a single copy of the image only for purposes of private study, research, or teaching. The images are large, so that the small print can be read. The images are reproduced here for private, non-commercial, research, and teaching purposes only. Any other use requires the permission of the Ames Foundation and the New York Public Library. |
