List of Images of Pages of Printed Cases and Other Documents
in the William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan

The William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan is one of the great repositories of primary source material in the U.S. Its focus is on the exploration of the New World and on the American Revolution. It does, however, hold an incomplete manuscript copy of the appellant’s case in Smith v Carlisle and an extensive manuscript copy of the appellant’s petition in Kennedy v Alleyne. Their friendly co-operation in providing us with images of these items and licensing us to display them here is gratefully acknowledged.

In the case of Smith v Carlisle clicking on any of the page links below will bring you to an image of the page listed embedded in an HTML frame. You can navigate between the pages either by using the arrows at the top and bottom of the image frame or by returning to this page, which will remain in a separate tab or window. The images in Kennedy v Alleyne are incorporated in a PDF to which you will be brought directly. You may download and use a single copy of the images only for purposes of private study, research, or teaching. The images are large, so that the small print can be read.
