Biography/Description |
Two works are recorded under this author in WorldCat: the De haeredibus ab intestato (TUI 1584 t. 8.1) and a work entitled Genialium dierum commentarii in nobile ac praeclarum Julii Pauli responsum septimo mense ff. de statu hominum. The first seems to have its editio princeps in Lyon in 1549. It is dedicated by the author to one ‘Gulielmus Comes praeses curiae Burdigalensis’. A Guillaume Le Comte de La Tresne is recorded as the fifth president of the parlement of Bordeaux on 27 August 1543. See the Liste des membres du parlement de Bordeaux published by the Archives departementales de la Gironde. The title identifies the author as being of Périgeux. The second was published in Paris in 1555. It contains a dedicatory epistle to a friend given at Périgeux, s.d. Both works have a decidedly humanist bent. Our author is probably the same as Mathurin Montaigne, who is described as both a physician and a jurist in A. Dujarric-Descombes, ‘Le docteur Jean Pascal’, Bulletin de la Société historique et archéologique du Périgord 34 (1906) 367. |
