Biography/Description |
From a Mantuan family, Bonifacius was probably the jurist in the service of various Northern Italian communes who appears in documents from 1299–1306. He was the author of a criminal treatise, Super maleficiis (ca.1300/01), which circulated under the name of Bonifacius Vitalini since its first print in 1499. Early modern editors likewise ascribed other works to this author, most notably the Lectura Clementinarum of Bonifacius Ammannati. |
